The Fugitive – review

(cat-and-mouse thriller – renowned surgeon is pursued by a relentless US Marshall for a murder he didn’t commit)

Sympathetic characters, wit, taut scripting. It’s in the detail. Harrison Ford is The Hero, confident, resourceful, vulnerable at the right moments (the denouement, for instance), completely and unfailingly good. This may seem like an obvious thing to say, but it’s crucial that we see it. It means we can reciprocate Tommy Lee Jones’s Marshall as the subtle details revealed throughout the chase build into a conclusion we know he’ll reach. It’s sure satisfying when he does.
